Our Story

Gabasawa Women and Children empowerment Initiative is a woman led organization registered with CAC, with a vision tailored towards helping the down-trodden, breaking the vicious circle of illiteracy and bridging the gap between diverse religious/tribal segregation. Gabasawa also registered with United Nations under Ecosoc, European Union, and British Council.

Gabasawa started in 2002 with kanuri, shuha, out of school Arab children living in vicious circle of megard to the 3rd generation. We started with 50 children in 2002; age range (6-14years) and as a result of great impact Gabasawa has been able to reach a Thousand (1,000) Children of that category.

Gabasawa Women & Children empowerment initiative is focused and has been responding positively in addressing the problem of women, youths and children on currently just concluded project with British Council Managing conflict in the North-East on the project of sexual & gender base violence, social justice and close relation with the family support unit of the Nigeria Police Force with the effort to identify SGBV cases, reporting and prosecution of perpetrators.

Gabasawa also focus on the underprivileged and most vulnerable households, especially widow farmer and girl child within our project coverage areas, Biu, Bayo, Hawul, Shani, MMC, Mafa, jere, Bama, Monguno Local Government Areas in Borno state; with beneficiaries of over 800 widow farmers.
