Gabasawa Women and Children Empowerment Initiative’s (GWCI) education scheme which includes paying the school fees of orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) including children of the poor, has touched over 1129 children since 2004. Some of these children have graduated from tertiary institutions which include Nigerian universities and polytechnics , while the organization continues to run the programme for other intakes.
As part of its major focus areas, the organization continues to provide educational support to children from financially incapacitated homes who have the desire to receive formal education. GWCI will continue to provide education to OVC and the less privileged in the Nigerian society. The organization provides one-on-one counseling, academic assessment, school visits to monitor OVC regularity in school, career counseling etc.
In 2015, Gabasawa Women and Children Empowerment Initiatives (GWCI) constructed and equipped 5 libraries in 5- different Secondary Schools in five different local government areas of Lagos state. The schools were also, equipped with modern computers for online libraries. The modern libraries with ICT also present opportunities for virtual library and online educational research for students in Secondary schools.
